We also have Visiting Musicians & refreshments all run by experienced professional singer Vanessa. We regularly visit Private and State Schools and Nurseries and Good Work Projects across Sheffield – see our Nursery page for who we sing with each month!

Song & Action – Our 1 hour 30 minute sessions are started with around 45 minutes of structured singing and action techniques based around traditional songs and rhymes due to their natural melodic flow, simple use of language, room for interpretation and expression, repetition and child friendliness. Aiming to assist children’s development using bouncing, wiggling, tapping, clapping, beating, circle song techniques and more, utilising child sized percussion instruments, puppets, parachutes in our action packed sessions.

Musical Instrument Play – Then it’s time for musical playtime with our child sized musical instruments and percussion toys. This is a free flow session with parents/carers and children roaming freely around the room experimenting with the musical toys and instruments on offer that take their fancy. Refreshments are available during this time. Approx 45 minutes, although at some venues may be longer.

Experience new ideas every term - try out our giant keyboard mats, strum a guitar, try out a voice effects unit to make echo or robot voices, make shakers to take home, play percussion on our hanging chimes frames, have a go on the xylophones, chimes, bells, parachute play etc – so much to do!

Live Musicians - a professional musician will join us sometimes in our sessions. Let your child enjoy singing along with a saxophone or guitar, wow at the strings on a cello or dance to the beat of the drum! Current musicians doing the rounds at our sessions include Liz Hanks Cellist, James Atachroo Trumpet, Kate Thompson Violin, Martin L Robinson Saxophone & Clarinet, Sooze Tooze Classical Guitar and Ryan Taylor Jazz Piano. Children and parents very much enjoy this live musical interactive experience. Don’t forget our Christmas Carol Sing-a-long in December.  (Visits are approx three times a year.)

Parents Songsheets – Parents can benefit from the sessions, learning songs to recreate at home with their little ones, especially the lullabies. We make special effort to provide parents with plenty of bedtime songs, learning new ones, both original and traditional, singing together and using the songsheets to help with bedtime for the whole family. Song ‘word sheets’ are provided for each session covering rhymes and songs used for you to take home or read by email and use with your children.
